I love the ancient Egyptian portrayal of animals. What I read somewhere is that because the Egyptians didn't have the rigid restrictions for portraying animals that they did for portraying humans, the animals are depicted more realistically, relying on the artist's perceptions rather than on the learned conventions for human forms. For this reason, they have a particular charm and realism. I love what the dim lighting did for this photo.
